Culturally Speaking #52

By Sarah Stodola

-------------------------------------

On behalf of Me Three, I let me start by formally apologizing for having posted two photographs of George W. Bush on the homepage of the site this week...

* * *

As is obvious from looking at the homepage, the Me Three Print Journal is being carried in both St. Mark's Bookstore in the East Village and Spoonbill and Sugartown in WIlliamsburg, and by next week we'll have more locations to offer.

* * *

It's been a pleasure to peruse this alternative version of the Top 500 Songs Ever (as opposed to the Rolling Stone list)...

* * *

Self-Promotional Item: I gave an interview on Gothamist this week, in which I talk about the usual stuff: red vs. blue, blogs, and literature.

* * *

In the spirit of learning more about others who are doing things similiar to me, I bought a copy of N+1 a couple of days ago, and I have to say, I'm very impressed.  It's criticism of The New Republic and McSweeney's was pretty much spot on (and yes, that's all I've read so far).

* * *

This article is talking about Modernist music and its inferiority, but I bet some would say that the concept could easily be applied to Modernism as a whole.  I wouldn't agree on all counts, but it would be a welcome argument nonetheless.

* * *

The New York Press takes a look at the future of Brooklyn, and I don't think it likes what it sees...

* * *

I'm not quite sure, but I think it is actually Fashion Week again here in NYC.  I am starting to get the distinct feeling that it is always Fashion Week here in NYC.

* * *

And to wrap up, let me just say this: Unemployment is bliss.
