11.19.04 Culturally Speaking #45 By Sarah Stodola ------------------------------------- I can't be bothered to come up with a clever comment for this one, because it's so funny and strange on its own I wouldn't be able to top it...I'll just leave you with the hint that it involves a beaver's dam and a wad of stolen cash... * * * Why the Second Bush term is going to be even worse than the first... * * * John Kerry apparently has $45 million left in campaign funds. I don't understand this. With such a close election, wouldn't it have made sense to spend that money on advertising? Or something? Couldn't $45 million maybe have made the difference? You know, because elections in this country are actually bidding wars. * * * Each of the books on this list risked censorship in the United States this past year. * * * I hardly think that today's pop music debases the, um, moral integrity that was Roman Gladiator fights. Let's worry about the physical damage this concert might cause, instead. * * * I'd forgotten that student rush tickets to the New York Philharmonic are only $10. This has to be one of the best deals in all of New York City. * * * Literary journal Small Spiral Notebook is hosting a fundraiser tonight (Friday) to reaise money for their second print issue. * * * I
have to cut this short today because my computer keeps crashing and I
don't know why... Click here for the last Culturally Speaking. --------------------------------------- Sarah Stodola is the Executive Editor of Me Three. She can be contacted here. © 2004 Me Three |
